Quicktext for Thunderbird 8 and Postbox 3

Quicktext is one of the most usefull plugins to the email client. Having templates for most email comunication saves lots of time. Unfirtunatelly, new versions of popular email clients are poping up much faster than updates for Quicktext plugin.

Here we bring you how to make Quicktext "up to date".

How to make quicktext work under Thunerbird 8 or Postbox 3.x

• 1. download quicktext plugin.
• 2. rename downloaded .xpi file to .zip file
• 3. unpack the file using WinZip or WinRar, or other unpack program
• 4. edit file install.rdf
• 5. Thunderbird 8: change row 23 from <em:maxVersion>7.*</em:maxVersion> to <em:maxVersion>8.*</em:maxVersion>
• 5. Postbox 3: change row 32 from <em:maxVersion>2.5.*</em:maxVersion> to <em:maxVersion>3.*</em:maxVersion>
• 6. pack the whole directory back to one zip file
• 7. rename the zip file back to .xpi
• 8. install the plugin using updated file through your email client.

We strongly recommend to backup all your templates and settings. Please note, that you are changing the plugin, so you take full responsibility for the changes.
